BES Weekend Warriors
Fight the good fight
Leading a successful urban public school is a fight to which we have all committed. Every day you work tirelessly to prepare deserving students for college. If you could spend a weekend arming yourself with the skills you need to make a greater impact on Monday morning, you would.
Attend BES Weekend Warriors training to strengthen your skills, strengthen your school, and help your students surge ahead.
Be a warrior for education
Designed for both new and experienced school leaders—at BES schools and at any other schools that follow the BES approach—Weekend Warriors is an intensive two-day professional development series aimed at sharpening participants’ leadership skills.
Each series begins with a Friday visit to an exemplary BES school, where participants are exposed to the best practices in urban charter school management. On Saturday, they immerse themselves in a full day of workshops on such pertinent themes as hiring and selection, managing and leading adults, and standards and assessments.
Through activities like analyzing classroom videos and role playing, school leaders learn the most efficient ways to manage their institutions so that they can concentrate on the goal at hand: closing the achievement gap between urban students and their more affluent peers.
Participants leave Weekend Warriors feeling energized and ready to implement concrete practices on Monday morning.
