Katherine Nelligan is the Content Specialist at Purpose Preparatory Academy. Before transitioning out of the classroom, she was a founding-lead teacher in the second and third grades, serving as the Instructional Lead on the fourth grade team. Working alongside the leadership team, Katherine developed the third and fourth grade ELA curriculum, pioneering the school’s Close Reading framework. In the 2016-2017 academic year, the school was recognized as a Tennessee Reward School for academic achievement, ranking within the top five percent of schools in the state of Tennessee. Purpose Preparatory is the first elementary school in North Nashville ever to have earned this distinction in the history of Nashville. Prior to Purpose Preparatory, Katherine attended Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations with a minor in Japanese. She also earned a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Lipscomb University, is a proud Teach for America alumna and a member of Nashville’s Teacher Cabinet.
